Artist Bios
Praised for her “pure sound” and “glorious high notes,” soprano Kathryn Mueller delights audiences in both concert and operatic performances. She has appeared as a soloist with the Washington Bach Consort, Santa Fe Pro Musica, Firebird Orchestra (Miami), Tucson Symphony Orchestra, New Trinity Baroque (Atlanta), and Tucson Chamber Artists, and has sung operatic works with companies including Arizona Opera and the University of Arizona Opera Theater. An accomplished ensemble singer as well, Kathryn is a member of some of the finest choral ensembles in the United States, including the Handel and Haydn Society, Seraphic Fire (Miami, FL), and the Santa Fe Desert Chorale. She has recorded extensively for the Edition Lilac label, and is featured as a soloist on recordings with the Santa Fe Desert Chorale and Tucson Chamber Artists. Kathryn has been an artist for Opening Minds through the Arts, a student achievement and school improvement program that integrates the arts into core curriculum. Kathryn holds music degrees from Brown University and The University of Arizona, and now happily makes her home in Tucson, Arizona. Nathan Krueger, baritone, holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh the University of New Mexico and is currently finishing a Doctorate of Musical Arts at the University of Arizona. Prior to beginning work at the University of Arizona, Mr. Krueger was on the Voice faculty at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. An extremely active performer in the Southwest, Mr. Krueger is a member of the Arizona Opera Chorus and has recently sung with Santa Fe Desert Chorale and the Tucson Chamber Artists. On the national level, he has performed roles with L’opera Piccola in Chicago, Opera Southwest, Milwaukee Opera Theatre, Chicago Chamber Opera and performed in two productions with the Santa Fe Opera Showcase. In addition to his busy performance schedule, Mr. Krueger is active as an Opera Artist in Tucson United School District’s Opening Minds Through the Arts (OMA) program, a nationally recognized arts integration program. Hailed by the Arizona Daily Star as a pianist with “technical prowess, balletic grace, warm tones, and unwavering devotion to the score,” pianist Aryo Wicaksono has performed in many venues and festivals in Arizona, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., New York City, Fort Worth – Texas, Las Vegas, and Sonora, México. He has performed with the Civic Orchestra of Tucson, Tucson Symphony, Arizona Symphony Orchestra, Arizona Wind Ensemble, and Arizona Percussion Ensemble, performing concertos and new works ranging from Liszt, Prokofiev, Stravinsky, and Philip Glass. As a musical director and pianist for the musical Elegies – Looking Up by composer William Finn, he won the Arizona Daily Star’s “Mac Award” 2006 for Best Musical in Tucson, and the Tucson Weekly “Best of Awards” Best Musical in Tucson for 2006-2007. Recently, he made his sold-out orchestral debut with the St. Petersburg State Symphony in St. Petersburg, Russia, performing Prokofiev 1st Piano Concerto in D-flat major Op. 10. He also debuted in the prestigious Embassy Series Concert in Washington D.C., in December 2008. He was recently featured on the KUAT TV Arts Illustrated Broadcast program and ARTe, on their local SouthWest artist profile. His performances have been broadcasted in radio in Spain, United States, and Indonesia. He has been a proud Teaching Artist since 2004 for Tucson United School District’s Opening Minds Through the Arts (OMA) program, a nationally recognized, award winning Arts Integration program.
